Few names in the art world are as well-known or iconic as Andy Warhol. As one of the forefathers of the Pop Art Movement, his subject matter was informed by what was in the public eye, from the grocery store to the television. In this way, his content had a kind of polarity to it, at times focusing on banal objects such as a Campbell’s Soup Can or a Brillo box, and at times focusing on the central figures of fame in America, from Marilyn Monroe to Jackie O. Warhol was America’s portraitist, documenting a multiplicity of aspects of American life. The one thing they all had in common was their popularity. Warhol once said, "I think everyone should like everything…that's what [Pop Art] is about, liking things." As his popularity as an artist grew, he transformed the mundane into the iconic, blurring the lines between those who occupied the limelight of American culture naturally, and those objects that came to be infamous because of his influence. In this collection of prints, Diehl Gallery will be showcasing some of the most quintessential Warhol works, the ones that skyrocketed his career and have become a permanent part of our American artistic lexicon.

In light of Covid-19 and in an effort to keep our artists, staff, and collectors safe, we will not host an opening reception. Instead, we invite guests to schedule a private appointment to view the exhibition. Appointments for groups of 6 or fewer are available at your convenience.
